a new play by Mercedes Isaza Clunie, coming April 2027
First developed at Tarragon Theatre, between stars and sky tells the story of Someone, a soul splitter from “the beyond” responsible for leading souls through space, time, and life who majorly fucks up in the eyes of The Great Council. -
Artists In residence program
A year-long initiative at First Born Theatre, designed to support emerging artists with queer, BIPOC, or multilingual identities that are creating big, bold work – just like us! Each artist chooses to focus on an independent project that is supported by First Born through feedback sessions, community connections, and more.

A quarterly cold-reading series that bringing brand new Canadian plays into real spaces.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis! We’re looking for playwrights with an unproduced drafts ready to be heard, and actors who love a cold read and want to connect with emerging writers.
